ABOUT THE EVENT

Starting your own business and picking the right niche in no time

The 2021 USMC APA Professionals Leadership Summit will present an opportunity to connect on three organizational levels: individual – leadership development and mentorship; community – building relationships and strengthening ties; and organization – providing institutional value to the USMC using the strengths of APAs.

This summit will focus on the theme of “The Sphere of Influence” – a series featuring tactics and strategies to elevate APAs toward increased career opportunities and leadership possibilities. This 2-day course focuses on strengthening influence capabilities as a core, which expands into methods that consciously craft personal credibility and reputation.

The course lessons then amplify these influence foundations with discussions of visibility and how to leverage surrounding environments toward persuading others, to ultimately promote USMC equities. USMC APA Professionals is a non-federal entity wholly independent of the Marine Corps.

REGISTRATION

To attend this event please email your name, rank, unit, duty station, and best contact e-mail address to the POCs via your officer-in-charge. Coordinating instructions will be e-mailed upon successful reservation.

PURPOSE

United States Marine Corps (USMC) Asian Pacific Americans (APAs) Professionals is dedicated to building and strengthening the Asian Pacific American community of leaders through professional development and enhanced career opportunities.

This effort corresponds to the 38th Commandant’s Planning Guidance wherein III Marine Expeditionary Force was identified as the Marine Corps’ main focus-of-effort supporting the Indo-Pacific area of operations, a location where Asian Pacific Americans understand and have a deep grasp of Language, Regional Expertise and Culture (LREC) continuum while possessing the capabilities of establishing rapport and building relationships among key partners and allies.

SUMMIT DESCRIPTION

The USMC APA Professionals Leadership Summit 2023 will present an opportunity to connect on three organizational levels:

1. Individual. Leadership development and mentorship.

2. Community. Building relationships and strengthening ties.

3. Organization. Providing institutional value to the USMC using the strengths of APAs.

This summit will focus on the theme of “Power Words: Proactive, Productive, and Positive Language for Persuasion".

APAs have been told that we have communication challenges and needs. What if we discussed how APAs could leverage our culture to
communicate with words toward a strengths-based approach?

Power Words provides practical tools and frameworks for APAs to maximize and innovate cross-culturally to build more influence, leadership, and collaborative skills in the workplace. Every professional and leader requires the effective deployment of language toward peak
performance. Entire industries such as marketing and sales generate trillions from thoughtful words. Diplomats transform war to trade with the right words. You can too! This course elevates your ability to do so.

• Wield Words in Productive Ways that Leverage APA Cultural Strengths
• Increase Synergies with Others Through Words
• Navigate Fluidly through the Yin-Yang of Language
• Build Confidence & Influence Others

Attendance to the USMC APA Professionals Leadership Summit 2023 will include four additional remote sessions for additional lessons building upon the Leadership Summit.
